時(shí)間:2017年5月19日(周五)15:30
地點(diǎn):西校區經(jīng)管樓C407
報告人:Dr.Wei Li
報告人簡(jiǎn)介:Dr. Wei Li is a Professor in the Department of Computer Scienceat Texas Southern University (TSU), Houston, USA. Heis also the founding Director/PIof NSF Center for Research on Complex Networksat TSU, one of 27 active NSFCenters of Research Excellence in Science and Technology (CREST) in 2017.Beforejoining TSU, Dr.Li was an Associate Professor with tenure in the Department ofElectrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Toledo, USA,an Associate Professor in the Department of Operations Research at the ChineseAcademy of Sciences, and a Lecturerin the Department of Mathematics at HebeiNormal College, China. His research interests are in wireless sensor networksand mobile ad hoc networks; adaptation, design, and implementation of dynamicmodels for wireless and mobile networks; radio resource allocations in wirelessmultimedia networks; and mobile and high-performance computing etc.He is theauthor/co-author of 5 books and over 150 peer-reviewed papers in professionaljournals and the proceedings of conferences, including IEEE TC, IEEE TWC, IEEETVT, IEEE/ACM TN, IEEE JSAC, AAP, JAP and INFOCOM et al.During last ten years, his researchactivities have been supported as PI by five NSF Research Grants, two AFOSRGrants and one Industry Project. He is currently serving as an Editor forthree professional journals, is serving or has served as a Steering CommitteeMember/ General Co-Chair/ TPC Co-Chair/ Publicity Chair/ Session Chair/ TPCmembersrespectively for a number of professional conferences, such as INFOCOM,Globecom, ICC, and WCNC et al.
報告概要:In this presentation, the speaker will briefly introduce the majoraspects of NSF CREST Research Center at TSU in the research of energy efficientwireless sensor networks, the unban transportation environmental networks anddistributed computational networks, and in the education and the technologytransform components. The presentation will also include Center’s management, and its concentration on the science, technology, engineering and mathematics(STEM) education programs, as well as its measurement of success. As a showcaseof research accomplishments, the speaker will present two recent mathematical researchresults. One is in bandwidth adaptation of wireless networksby using networkreversible process property. This research verifies the mathematicalproduct-form solution of whole wireless network and further reveals theimportance of single-cell research in wireless networks. Another research is incall admission control based billing strategies by using the method of Markovdecision process. This research verifies the optimal admission threshold policyfor new generated data and then provides a novel method in resolving dynamicoptimal problems in wireless networks. As a potential collaboration withrelatedscholars, the speaker will discuss a few challenging problems in the areaswhich may need to be paid attention in the near future. Finally, the speakerwill present on how the current research be linked to the short range wireless communicationsfor connected vehicle to vehicle networks.
